Pyrok™ - An Overview
Pyrok™ is widely recognized for producing high-quality, sound-absorptive systems that emphasize seamlessness for monolithic ceiling and wall designs:
StarSilent - seamless, smooth, acoustical plaster
Acoustement - seamless, textured, abuse-resistant, acoustical plaster
VOGL - seamless, acoustical/perforated drywall
Sustainability
With Health Product Declaration (HPD) and Declare labels for all products, Pyrok™ offers a sustainable and effective approach to optimizing acoustics for workplace, healthcare, education, cultural/arts, civic/judicial, hospitality, and many other types of spaces.
Pyrok™ products are Class-A, contain no VOC’s, and are 100% Red-List Free. Some products also have the added benefit of containing very high % of post-consumer recycled content, contributing to LEED v4 credits.
StarSilent (seamless, hand-troweled acoustical plaster)
StarSilent is the marquee product from Pyrok™, and for good reason. This hand-troweled, smooth, acoustical plaster system utilizes rigid, sound-absorptive boards that are fastened (via typical zinc-coated drywall screws) to GWB grid/framing without the use of a structural substrate. This provides measurable benefits to the project in two ways:
Sound absorption in the low-to-mid frequency spectrum is improved. By allowing the air cavity in the plenum beyond the boards to contribute to the total acoustical system, longer wavelengths (lower tones) can be absorbed more effectively with StarSilent. Other acoustical plasters require a solid substrate to which fiberglass pads are fastened/adhered, which short-circuits the acoustical system and disallows the absorption of longer wavelengths. These longer wavelengths (lower tones) are where most of the troublesome noise sources reside: HVAC/mechanical, traffic, aircraft, vowel sounds in human speech, etc.
Reduction in total installed costs. Removal of the structural substrate (required by most other acoustical plasters) also removes the material+labor costs required to install that substrate.
Acoustement (seamless, spray-applied acoustical plaster)
Pyrok™ Acoustement is a spray-applied acoustical plaster that provides wall and ceiling treatments in twelve standard colors and a variety of textures. It can be applied in different thicknesses to achieve various acoustical results.
Pyrok™ Acoustement Plaster 20 and Acoustement Plaster 40 are both gypsum plaster formulations – ideal for a wide variety of surfaces including gypsum drywall. Acoustement Plaster 20 has the capability to be the smoothest finish (although not plaster smooth) and still retain its sound absorption. Pyrok™ Acoustement 40 is a Portland cement-based product and is compatible with unpainted concrete, masonry, and steel substrates.
Benefits of Acoustement:
Durability
Low life-cycle cost
Superior acoustical performance
Minimal maintenance
Non-combustible and non-toxic formulation
Vogl (seamless, perforated GWB)
Vogl is a perforated gypsum board product with a large variety of perforation options and a patented joint taping system that is unequal in the industry. Using Vogl, large scale, monolithic acoustic ceilings can now be implemented without any joint finishing operations.
Benefits of Vogl:
Quick mounting of panels – “edge to edge”
No more complex aligning of panels
Quickest possible joint finishing with our unique VoglFuge® / VoglJoint strip
Significant time saving due to quick installation and drying times
Maximum crack resistance
Less dust and moisture
Everything required with the VoglFuge® / VoglJoint system kit including perforated panel screws SN 3.5 x 30 mm
